just now (712+ words) A three-game skid that concluded with a sweep by Northeastern had Boston College 2-4-1 on Halloween, and had the Eagles looking vulnerable after having captured the Hockey East regular-season crown the last two years. They have responded by taking eight of nine, including a home-and-home sweep of UMass Lowell to close out the first half of the season and move up the league standings. The Eagles sit a point behind UConn for first place, but with a game in hand. "We've done it in a lot of different ways, and I think that's the encouraging part," said coach Greg Brown. "It hasn't been one line carrying us. It's been contributions from a lot of people. Some night's the power play is on and helps us win, and some nights it's been the penalty kill, or just five on five play." After…...

Even amid another year of mediocrity in the NFC South, the Atlanta Falcons (4-9) are eliminated from playoff contention with four games left in the regular season. Sure, there have been brutal injuries, but this squad still has glaring problems to fix in 2026. While the vast majority of fans probably just want the Birds to improve their NFL Draft positioning at this point, the organization still has to piece together an offense for the remainder of the campaign. Naturally, the Falcons are adding to their presently thin wide receiver room. They claimed former Green Bay Packers pass-catcher Malik Heath off waivers on Monday, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. The 25-year-old is going from possibly the best team in the NFC to what is…...

Bears QB Caleb Williams' timing, throwing accuracy are critical to their playoff hopes
8+ min ago (483+ words) The Caleb Williams experience has been a wild ride for the Bears with plenty of thrills and plunges, and the game against the Packers on Sunday had all of those moments. One moment, Williams was stuck at 7-for-15 passing and down 14-3 in the third quarter, sputtering along at Lambeau Field like past Bears quarterbacks. The next, he's threading a Matrix-style touchdown pass through a defender's arms to Olamide Zaccheaus " Next Gen Stats calculated a 16.9% chance of completing that one " and leading the Bears to the brink of another epic comeback. He fell short, though, as his final pass was intercepted in the end zone by cornerback Keisean Nixon to seal the Packers' 28-21 win and send the Bears tumbling from the top playoff seed in the NFC to the seventh spot. As Williams has said often this season, it'd be preferable…...
